Mission Statement of the South African Institute of Intellectual Property Law Council
The mission of the Intellectual Property Council is to advance the effective understanding, use, and implementation of intellectual property law in the Republic. We are dedicated to contributing to the awareness and development of intellectual property law, while assisting in setting high standards for the profession. Our mission encompasses the following key objectives

- To Foster Understanding and Implementation:

- Advance effective understanding, use, and implementation of intellectual property law.
- Contribute to the awareness and development of intellectual property law.
- Representative Body:

- Maintain a representative body that includes fellows and associate members involved in intellectual property law in the South Africa.
- Regulations and Ethics:

- Frame and establish regulations and rulings for members, promoting high standards of ethics within the profession.
- Legislative Advocacy:

- Originate and promote amendments in laws related to intellectual property.
- Oppose legislation detrimental to the interests and development of intellectual property law.
- Public Awareness:

- Disseminate information to the public regarding intellectual property and its protection.
- Knowledge Exchange:

- Facilitate the acquisition and interchange of professional knowledge and information among members.
- Mediation and Arbitration:

- Facilitate mediators and arbitrators in resolving intellectual property disputes.
- Provide training in IP dispute resolution, including domain name ADR disputes.
- Collaboration:

- Collaborate and establish reciprocal relations with similar institutes or bodies in the South Africa and other countries.
- Social Interaction:

- Provide facilities for social interactions among members, fostering a sense of community.
- Professional Excellence:

- Promote and maintain a standard of professional excellence in intellectual property law.
- Advocate for intellectual property law as a specialized area.
- Provide, support and promote specialist training, examination, and assessment in intellectual property law.
- Provide training, examination, and assessment in intellectual property law.
- General Acts for the Benefit:

- Undertake all acts conducive to the attainment of the above objects.
- Act in the interests of its members or the profession.
In pursuit of these objectives, the SAIIPL Council strives to be a guiding force, fostering a dynamic and ethical intellectual property legal community in the South Africa.
